Walmart Point System Explained (2022 Guide)
Wondering how the Walmart point system operates? As one of the world's largest retailers, Walmart employs millions of people. To keep track of their employees' performance, Walmart uses a point system.
This system is used to encourage good attendance and discourage tardiness and absences. However, some critics say that the point system is unfair and punishes workers for things that are beyond their control.
What is Walmart Point Systems? What did it use for?
Walmart uses a point-based attendance system to track employee absences. Under this system, employees receive one point for every absence that is not excused. Points accumulate over time, and after a certain number of points are accumulated, the employee is subject to disciplinary action, which may include termination.
In addition to the point-based attendance system, Walmart has a late policy that imposes disciplinary action on employees who arrive at work late. Employees who arrive more than 10 minutes late are docked one hour of pay for their shift. If an employee arrives more than 30 minutes late, he or she is terminated.
Walmart's attendance policy is designed to ensure that employees are present for their shifts and that the store can operate efficiently. The late policy is intended to ensure that employees are on time for their shifts and that the store can start its day on time.
Both the point-based attendance system and the late policy are important components of Walmart's overall attendance policy. Together, these policies help to ensure that Walmart operates efficiently and that its employees are held accountable for their absences.
How To Report An Absence/Lateness At Walmart?
When you arrive at Walmart, you will need to determine the best way to report your arrival. There are three ways to report an absence or lateness at Walmart: through the mobile app, online, or in person.
If you are using the mobile app, you will need to open the app and click on the “Report Time” button. From there, you can choose the time that you arrived at work.
If you are using the online system, you will need to log in and also click on the “Report Time” tab. Then, choose the time that you arrived at work and click submit.
If you are reporting in person, you will need to go to the nearest People Greeter and tell them the time that you arrived at work. They will then give you a slip of paper with a number on it. This number is your report time code and you will need to enter it into one of the reporting systems.
Once you have reported your arrival, you will need to follow the Walmart point system.
Here are the steps for the point system:
- If you are working your scheduled shift, you will start at 0 points.
- If you are working more than your scheduled shift, you will start at 1 point for every hour that you work over your scheduled shift.
- If you are working less than your scheduled shift, you will start at -1 point for every hour that you work under your scheduled shift.
- You will receive a point for every minute that you are late.
- You will be given a write-up for every 3 points that you accumulate.
- You will be terminated from employment for every 6 points that you accumulate.
- The maximum number of points that you can have is 24 points.
- If you have any questions about the Walmart point system, please ask your supervisor.
The Walmart Late Policy is as follows: if you are more than 5 minutes late, you will receive 1 point and if you are more than 10 minutes late, you will receive 2 points. If you are more than 15 minutes late, you will receive a write-up. If you are more than 30 minutes late, you will be terminated from employment.
Is there a limit to the number of absences allowed at Walmart?
As we discuss before, Walmart has a point system in place for absences. You will get one point for each absence, and after you reach six points, you will be terminated from your employment at Walmart.
If you are absent from a doctor's appointment, you will not receive a point. If you are absent for any other reason, you will receive a point. According to Walmart Late Policy, if you are more than four minutes late to your shift, you will receive a point. After you have received three points for being late, you will be terminated from your employment at Walmart.
What Are Walmart's Great Attendance Rewards?
Good attendance at Walmart is rewarded with points that can be redeemed for a variety of items in the store's online catalog. If an employee has perfect attendance for an entire year, they are given a $1,000 bonus.
If an employee has only one absence, they are given a $50 gift card. Tardiness is penalized with points that can lead to dismissal from the company.
Walmart's point system and late policy are designed to incentivize good attendance and discourage tardiness. Employees who arrive late more than three times in six months are typically terminated from the company.
By establishing a clear set of rules and consequences, Walmart aims to maintain a high level of productivity among its employees. The company's point system and late policy have been successful in achieving this goal.
How Many Points Do I Lose for Being Tardy or Late?
Anything 10 minutes or more is considered late. And it will cost you points. If it's between 10 minutes and 2 hours, it costs the employee a half-point. If it's late by more than 2 hours, it is a full point.
If the Walmart associate doesn't show up for work, it is considered a "no-call-no-show" and the employee will receive a full point on their employee record.
Will I Get a Point If I Leave Early?
Leaving early can cost an employee points. Leaving early could receive half a point. The store manager can better help you understand your points.
What is Protected Paid Time Off?
PPTO is a new program from Walmart that provides paid time off for full-time employees. The policy helps protect Walmart against unexpected absences for those who are looking to take time off.
How Many Points Will Get Me Fired?
Any Walmart associates who pass five points will lose their eligibility to be an employee. Receiving five points can be as easy as missing five or more shifts.
Employees who miss work four times and have worked at Walmart for less than six months will get terminated at the "four points" mark. Points do reset annually. Call 1-800-492-5678 at any time to get your point report.
Bottom Line
So, if you are a Walmart employee, it is important to be aware of this attendance point system. You don’t want to get too many points and lose your job! On the other hand, try not to accumulate any points so you can earn a bonus. It is something to think about as we head into the new year.
