Dietitian Job Description

A dietitian, also occasionally called a nutritionist, is responsible for planning nutritional programs. This service could be conducted for an organization or institution which provides food services. Dietitians can also choose to counsel individuals on dietary needs to help them achieve more favorable body conditions or address health concerns. A dietitian could also work in nutritional research.

We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable dietitian dedicated to helping patients lead healthier lives and achieve their goals. The successful candidate will be responsible for consulting with patients to learn their goals and dietary restrictions/preferences in order to create a healthy nutrition plan that works for them. You may also be asked to promote healthier eating habits or speak about nutrition in demonstrations or seminars.

Entry-level dietitians can expect an average salary of about $41,000 per year. Experienced dietitians can make as much as $82,000 annually. The average salary across all experience levels and locations is roughly $61,000 per year. This salary may also change depending on where the service is performed: a clinical setting, private practice, or large institution.

Dietitian Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition, health, or another related field.
  • Additional certifications are a plus.
  • Higher education is an asset.
