I don't know Colt Seager but I'm becoming a huge fan of his work. I discovered him from the commission he's been producing for Wheaton Illinois new restaurant Moveable Feast. Originally started in Geneva Illinois, a place right near where I grew up. I could speak about the restaurant some more but this is about Colt. When I arrived at his site I immediately loved the work.
There's something simple but also complex about it. For instance, putting an imperfect circle onto paper or wood in a fashion that has the precise amounts of pressure to it in order to create something so simple. It's all technique. That's something we should appreciate. I'm a fan of painted art that makes you understand the technique versus coming straight at you and being over the top. The texture, the color, the overall aesthetic and design.
